Allow me to advise you what a typical day in Thailand is like for me. I wake up and drive to a local golf course where I meet an American friend. We’re greeted with beaming smiles by the caddies who quickly pick up our bags and escort us to the course. After a leisurely nine holes, I drive home to my fully furnished 2 story, three bedroom, 2 bath apartment in the center of the city. The rent is over priced by Thai standards- US$300 a few weeks. I provide my gorgeous 26 year of age Thai girlfriend a kiss goodbye as she heads off to work as a concierge for a local 5 star hotel.

After a fast shower, I spend two hours checking e-mail and surfing the net with my high speed web. From there, it’s time for lunch. Italian sounds great. Four dollars later, I’m full and it is time for a little sunbathing by the pool. There I catch up with other long time expats, a number of from the US, others from Europe and Australia. We lie in the sun, laughing, talking politics, investments, business, girls and the day’s headlines from the Bangkok Post. I return home and spend a couple more hours on the pc prior to receiving a call from Neung (the 26 year of age gorgeous Thai girlfriend). She’s getting off work and wants me to meet her for a massage and dinner. My back’s a little sore from golfing that morning and a massage sounds good.

Over the course of the following 2 hours, I fall in and out of sleep as I experience the essential in relaxation- Thailand is famous for it is unique style of massage that targets each corner of the body. After parting with $5 for the massage, we head to a local Thai restaurant. It is outdoors and there must be 2 hundred other customers. A live band plays in the center and the aromas of fresh chili and barbeque permeate the air. Everywhere, individuals are talking and laughing. It seems each table has it is own waitress and every time my glass of beer nears empty, a stunning girl in super high heels, a brief black mini skirt and a Johnnie Walker tank top, rushes over to fill it up. I smile at her and she smiles back. Neung shoots me a disapproving look. I smile at Neung and take another sip. Dinner and beer for 2 costs $8, a fair cost for a wonderful evening out. We return home only in time to catch the finish of the game on satellite TV. As Shaq misses another free throw, I lay back with a grin on my face. Life is great. And you understand what? This could be your life too.
